The most common reasons for a device to stop returning meters and supplies are:

  • The device IP address changed

  • The installation/data collection agent (DCA) is offline

  • The device was replaced and is no longer used

  • The device is temporarily turned off

  • The device tracking was disabled

  • The device > settings > SNMP timeout may need to be increased to 3000

  • The device > settings > SNMP version or community entry may no longer match what the device is using

  • The device may have SNMP disabled

  • SNMP port 161 communication between the DCA and device is blocked

  • If there is a replacement DCA, it may be that the new DCA just needs to discover/scan for the device.

Recommendations

  • If the DCA is online submit a job for the DCA to run an on-demand scan of the device IP address if known, else scan the network segments as described at https://docs.printtrackerpro.com/docs/guides/discovery#on-demand-scans.

  • If DCA is online and 'View Devices' is displaying the device's correct IP address, then submit a job to upload device meters as described at https://docs.printtrackerpro.com/docs/guides/meters#on-demand-uploads

  • If the DCA is online, the 'View Devices' screen lists the device's current IP address, and jobs to upload meters and supplies fail, then submit a job for the DCA to run a network topology scan on the device IP address.

The scan results will indicate if the DCA detected: a PING response, SNMP, embedded web server, printing device SNMP
