A device is showing supply entries that are wrong: duplicate toner rows, the wrong supply type or color, or supplies that do not physically exist in the printer.
This is a data mapping problem, not a hardware fault. Print Tracker reads supplies using logic tailored to each model, and these symptoms mean the device's SNMP data is being matched to the wrong things or that the device is reporting something unexpected.
Common Scenarios
Symptom | Likely cause |
Two identical toner entries, for example two "Black Toner" rows | The device is reporting the same supply through more than one SNMP location |
Supply shows the wrong color or type | The device is not correctly identified, so Print Tracker is reading it with the wrong model's logic. Firmware issues or updates can also change where a device reports its supplies. |
A supply stuck at 0% or "Unknown" that never changes | The device reports a supply that is not physically installed, such as a consumable for an optional tray or finisher |
A supply disappeared after a firmware update | The firmware change moved where that supply is reported, so Print Tracker's collection logic for the model needs updating; or a firmware update changed what supplies are reported. |
Step 1: Confirm the Device Is Correctly Identified
How Print Tracker reads a device's supplies depends entirely on knowing what the device is, so check identification before investigating the supply entries themselves.
Using the sidebar, click Devices, then View devices.
Check the make and model shown for the device.
Compare that to the physical label on the machine or its control panel.
If Print Tracker shows printmib, a blank model, or a different model than the machine actually is, that is your problem and the supply entries are a symptom of it. Resolve identification first: see Device Identified as "printmib": Make and Model Not Recognized.
If the make and model are correct, continue to step 2.
Step 2: Force a Fresh Supply Read
Supply data on screen can be stale. Pull fresh values before concluding anything is genuinely wrong.
Go to Devices, then View devices.
Click the three-dot menu to the right of the device and choose the option to update meters.
Allow 5 to 10 minutes for the agent to query the device and push updated data.
Track progress under Jobs, then View.
Refresh the device page and review the supply entries.
A problem that survives a fresh read is genuine. A problem that clears was stale display data.
Step 3: Report It to Support
If incorrect entries persist on a correctly identified device, then most likely Print Tracker Pro's collection logic for that model needs adjusting, which support and engineering handle. Contact support with:
Device make, model, and firmware version
Device serial number
A screenshot of the incorrect supply entries
What the device's own web interface or control panel shows for those same supplies
Any recent changes to the device, such as a firmware update or hardware swap
Recent changes are the most useful detail. A firmware update immediately before the symptom appeared usually identifies the cause on its own. The comparison against the device's own display is the second most useful, because it separates a reading problem from a mapping problem.
No change is needed on site, and the fix applies on the next scan cycle once support has made it.
